Room Service
690 9Th Avenue
New York, NY 10036
On July 01, 2011, I went to lunch with a friend to a place called Room Service. It was her choice. It was on "restaurant row", about two blocks from times square. They have lots of restaurants to choose from. BBQ, Italian, Thai..You name it, they probably have it.
My first impression was that it's nice and cozy, but as I looked around, I saw that they have tables in every corner possible. It felt a little bit crowded and tight. Even though its New York and we are in a fast paced state, it still would be nice for some "settle in" time to be given. The staff seemed to hover over you until your order is placed and they didn't have a warmth to them. That warmth makes you go back to restaurants even when they have mediocre food. The decor was gray walls with mirrors everywhere. They also have a huge chandelier in glass in the middle of the restaurant. The name did not fit the decor at all.

Anyway, I ordered the golden fried fritters. Which consisted of shrimp, tofu and spring rolls, of course all fried. I liked all of the items, except the tofu. It had sesame seeds and poppy seeds on them and was as flavorless as can be. I also had a great drink called the Siam slam. It was strong but great.
Would I go again? Probably not. The food was alright and the atmosphere was blah. Very minimalistic. The name did not go with the decor or the food and the seating was very tight.
Here are my ratings:
(1 is bad and 5 is good)
Food: 2+, Not great but not terrible
Atmosphere: 2, The chandelier was interesting.
Cost: 20 per person, which includes a meal and a drink.
Crowd: Mostly Asian and a few toursits.
Wait: None, was seated right away
