Elegant Rose Hall-West Indian Buffett
Elegant Rose Hall
4848 White Plains Road
Bronx NY 10470
Friday,February 26, 2011
My date was taking me out to eat.So we decided to go to the Elegant Rose Hall-West Indian buffett in the Bronx. Neither one of us has been to this place, even though I pass it all the time. Before entering, I took a look at the outside looked nice but so simple compared to other restaurant that have neon lights that swirl, shake and lure you to them.
We entered and they were closing, and had just turned off the burners, so my date convinced them to stay open for a little while so we could grab a bite to eat. And they did. Kudos to them. We sat got our plates and sat to eat. Now this was about 9:00pm on a Friday and obvisouly they just closed..but why wasn't anyone else in the restuarant eating with us, or why wasn't there leftover plates..etc from someone just finishing and leaving. HMM...So anyway, I almost tried everything on the buffett-being that I love food-and it was just ok. The bbq chicken was good but I couldn't find musch else that I would come back for. They had a dish that was called garlic chunks and stewed chunks...really?! How appetizing is that. Who wants to eat something called chunks?
Anyway, I took a good look at my environment. The space is large, so it can hold a fair amount of people and they also have an elevator to take you upstairs, to another room. So that would be a good place to have a party because it's on the corner and not much else is around it...But the carpet is browning, they had urn's on top of the buffett, old and browning walls, paper placemats, and it just looks old. So old that young people don't seem to come often. Who wants to go to a drab place and eat drab food.
At the end our our visit, they offered us two $3.00 coupons each for the buffett. That was nice and sweet but the food wasn't good. So why would I come back. You go to restaurants for the food and atmoshere. Neither has to be perfect but at least it has to have some redeeming qualities. As I took advertisements from the restaurant, I noticed another coupon for $500. off an event held there. WOW..that's alot of money off an event especially sight unseen. Even though it costs money to renevate a whole restaurant, there are little things you can do the enhance the atmoshre, like changing the tablecloths, painting the walls, changing the menu..etc.
Will they last? I don't know..in this economy, who really knows..but I wish them luck.
Here is my rating..1 bad-5 good
Atmostphere-2
Price-($14.99)-reasonable considering it's a buffett-4
Food-2
