Tips from a garlic clove.

1.Roast garlic to spread on sandwiches. Trim the top, then wrap the bulb in foil; roast 1 hour at 400 degrees.

2.Make garlic oil: gently cook 10 garlic cloves in 2 cups olive oil, 25 minutes. Cool, then strain. Refrigerate up to 10 days.

3. Rub toothpaste on your hand to get rid of the garlic smell.

4. Cut slits in firm fillets like halibut, stud with sliced garlic, drizzle with olive oil and bake 10 minutes at 450 degrees.

5. For dinner: Saute shrimp in butter with garlic and red pepper flakes; add a squeeze of lemon. Serve with bread.

6. Party bite: Toss walnuts with melted butter, salt, rosemary and minced garlic; bake 10 minutes at 350 degrees.

7. Mash garlic into a paste and add it to mayonnaise for a dip.

8. Homemade salsa: Pulse garlic, onion, jalapenos and lime juice in a food processor; add tomatoes and salt.

9. Look for mild tasting green garlic at the farmers market. It looks like a scallion.

10. A peeling trick: Put garlic cloves in a metal bowl, cover with a plate and shake hard-the skins come right off.

11. Easy breadsticks: Melt butter with minced garlic, brush on breadstick dough and bake as directed.

12. The smaller you chop garlic, the stronger the flavor gets.

13. Lemons and parsley helps to get rid of garlic breath.

14. When your sick: Heat water to a boil, add your favorite tea bag, lemon juice, honey and a half of garlic clove. You'll feel better in no time.
